BeaCloud is a cloud and edge-focused company, founded in 2026 as a spin-off of the Emisfera Group — a business with more than 30 years of experience in the IT sector. Managing data on behalf of partners and customers in critical and sensitive sectors — healthcare, energy, logistics, industry, and human resources — made compliance with regulations such as GDPR, NIS2, and DORA non-negotiable. At the same time, sustained volume growth required a scalable solution across a distributed multi-site infrastructure, economically sustainable over the long term.

The cloud object storage solutions previously evaluated did not offer an adequate balance between performance, sovereignty, and cost transparency. On-prem storage alternatives offered greater control, but proved rigid and difficult to scale across a distributed edge infrastructure.

Solution

To address these requirements, BeaCloud selected DS3 Composer — Cubbit's software-defined object storage — as the reference technology for its entire cloud and edge services portfolio. The solution is under deployment across each data centre and distributed across all of BeaCloud's Italian and European edge nodes, creating a geo-distributed, scalable, and fully sovereign storage network.

Data is encrypted, fragmented, and replicated across multiple geographically distributed nodes — never exposed in full and always accessible. Data immutability guarantees protection against ransomware attacks and any attempt at compromise.

DS3 Composer integrates with DittoFS, an open-source solution that enables support for SMB and NFS file storage protocols. The offering covers a wide range of use cases: from backup to innovative services and distributed virtual storage.

The partnership has already generated positive early market results. The joint presentation at ITNOG in Bologna, Italy — 20–21 April 2026 — enabled BeaCloud to acquire new customers, confirming the strength of the offering in critical and regulated sectors.

In a second phase, the strategy is to extend cloud and edge services beyond Italy's borders, connecting to the main European internet exchanges to build a uniform geo-distributed infrastructure across the European Single Market.
