SEO Technical Content Writer (Freelance)

About the role

We're looking for an SEO Technical Content Writer to join Cubbit's marketing team on an ongoing freelance retainer.

Our readers are technical IT leaders and their engineering teams, at enterprises and at IT service providers. They are sharp, sceptical, and allergic to marketing fluff. Your job is to write the piece they actually finish, trust, and forward to a colleague.

Good technical content moves a buying committee: an IT leader shares it with their team, an engineer shares it with their boss — and a procurement conversation begins.

The best profile here has real technical grounding. Some of the top writers in this space started on the engineering side- developers or infrastructure practitioners who discovered they could write, and if that's your story, we'd love to talk.

You'll work alongside a team with strong SEO know-how and a successful track record that provides the strategic direction but needs smart execution — not copy-paste SEO, but content that earns its rankings.

What you'll do

• Write across the funnel, BOFU to MOFU: technical how-tos, comparisons, architectural deep-dives, and strategic content at the intersection of business and technology.
• Own SEO and AEO execution. Work from our briefs, bring your own opinions, and write for both search and AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Google AI Overviews).
• Write for two sales motions: helping our Enterprise team win direct deals, and helping our Service Provider channel win more deals at better margins.
• Repurpose smartly and strategically: articles become guides, LinkedIn posts, images that rank, slides, email sequences, and more.
• Go deep on the domain: object, file and block storage, cloud architecture, Kubernetes, and the wider infrastructure ecosystem. You'll understand your reader's Jobs To Be Done, not just their job title. 
• Generate value that gets shared. Every piece passes the "would I share this with my team?" test.

What you'll need

• 4+ years creating technical content for B2B enterprise audiences, with a portfolio that shows it. 
• Real technical grounding: you know object, file and block storage; you're at home in the cloud and infrastructure ecosystem.
• A working SEO & AEO track record: content that ranked and generated qualified leads, that you can talk through honestly, including what you'd do differently today.
• Strategic ecosystem awareness: you understand how SEO & AEO fit into the ABM enterprise sales motion and how to repurpose it effectively (gated content, email flows, LinkedIn thought leadership posts, and more).
• Self-starter, delivery-oriented:  you meet deadlines with quality, ask smart questions early, and don't need endless back-and-forth.
• Strong editorial taste: you know the difference between content that genuinely teaches and content that exists because "we needed to rank for a keyword"
• AI-pilled, not AI-dependent: you use AI tools to scale smartly, but your content is original, authoritative, and worthy of a byline

Bonus points

• Italian at native level, for localising our strongest pieces and for Italian-language LinkedIn.
• Keyword research and SERP analysis you can run yourself, spotting gaps we haven't briefed you on.
• Previous experience in a startup or high-growth scale-up environment.
• Familiarity with Ahrefs, Serpstat or similar tools.

Profile & mindset

You are a strong executor, but also have strong opinions about what makes content work, and we want to hear them. You know when to take direction, because we move fast and priorities shift. You like writing for an audience that will check your work, and you'd rather publish one piece an IT leader forwards to their team than four that nobody finishes.

Full Remote (EU timezone preferred)

Work from anywhere, with access to our network of partner co-working spaces, while our headquarters in Bologna are always available for collaboration, team meetings, and company events.
