What leads a small municipality like Marcheno to adopt Cubbit as its cloud storage solution? Innovation. Located north of Brescia in Valle Trompia, the city has 4197 inhabitants-a small number, but one that has allowed the administration to move in an agile or, as they say in Silicon Valley, lean way. Like a startup.
"Our territory, too," Andrea Guerini, alderman and deputy mayor, explains, "has also experienced in the last two years the pressure of the pandemic and the consequent problems that have also arisen at the social, institutional, economic, and educational levels. For this reason, the municipality has invested decisively, offering help to families and craft and commercial activities."
Like many other realities of Italy, Marcheno is facing a digital challenge. How to implement the transition? Not a small problem, which the municipality has tackled head-on through robust investments in innovation. And it is only thanks to such interventions that, amid the lockdown, primary and secondary schools can carry out distance learning activities when necessary. And not only that.
The numerous initiatives in digitization have also enabled pupils in attendance to have at their disposal renewed and updated technological equipment that provides a level of service. Thanks to the administration's choices, Marcheno schools have benefited from new multimedia projectors and notebooks in classrooms supplied to all teachers. The municipality also took care of LAN cabling, FTTH fiber connectivity up to 1Gb, and the wifi system, guaranteeing access control in total security.
The need for a single data management platform is evident with such investments. But with big data comes big responsibility. To whom should we delegate the task of overseeing and guarding such a treasure trove? The choice is far more complex in a world where data is the new oil.
"The increased focus on data protection and the availability of new FTTH fiber optic connectivity for the municipal office as well," explains Giacomo Amadini (IT Manager of the Municipality of Marcheno), "has led us to embark on a path of transition to the cloud of some internal resources. For this reason, management software will be transitioned to the cloud, taking advantage of the service made available by Maggioli SpA."
At the same time, the municipality of Marcheno wanted to use a technology that would also provide greater data security for municipal office files and workbooks. ''Cubbit,'' adds Guerini (alderman and deputy mayor of the Municipality of Marcheno), ''seemed to us to be the right service to solve our need.''
That's why the municipality of Marcheno is also joining Cubbit's Next Generation Cloud Pioneers.
